Microneedling

Microneedling

Microneedling can be done with or without PRP (Platelet-Rich-Plasma). Microneedling is an effective non-invasive and non-surgical treatment to help combat signs of aging as well as acne scars, thinning skin and stretch marks. Microneedling works by creating microscopic abrasions to the surface of ones skins. The microneedling procedure involves a small tool with various microscopic needles with a circumference smaller than that of human hair. When these needles are applied to the skin, it creates zones of microscopic wounds that trigger the body’s natural healing processes, sending collagen and elastin to these areas to help repair and rejuvenate the skin. As a result, the skin thickens and signs of aging are reversed.

What is PRP?

PRP is a topical treatment derived from the patient’s blood that can be used to enhance the skin healing effects that occur after microneedling. The PRP treatment contains growth factors and cytokines that allows the effects of the microneedling to penetrate more deeply and evenly into one’s facial skin. Without PRP the microneedling procedure is still effective as the instigation of collagen and elastin to the skin’s surface, helps reduce signs of aging.
