Frequently Asked Questions About PDO Thread Lifts

Dr. John Kang, a board-certified Korean American facial plastic surgeon located in NYC, specializes in advanced PDO Thread Lift procedures tailored to rejuvenate and enhance facial contours. With a deep understanding of Asian aesthetics, Dr. Kang skillfully creates natural-looking results that honor the unique beauty and balance of each patient’s features. Below are common questions patients ask about this minimally invasive treatment.

1. What is a PDO Thread Lift?
A PDO Thread Lift is a non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatment that uses dissolvable threads to lift sagging skin and smooth wrinkles. It is an excellent option for those seeking natural-looking results without the downtime or visible scarring of traditional surgery. This technique is particularly popular among Asian patients for its subtle and natural enhancements.

2. How does a PDO Thread Lift work?
Using specialized threads made of polydioxanone (PDO), Dr. Kang carefully lifts and tightens areas of sagging skin. These threads stimulate collagen production, leading to long-term skin improvement and a firmer, more youthful appearance.

3. How long do the results last?
The results of a PDO Thread Lift typically last between 12 to 18 months, with some collagen stimulation effects persisting even longer. Factors such as skin type, age, and lifestyle can influence longevity.

4. Is the procedure safe?
Yes, PDO Thread Lifts are FDA-approved and safe when performed by an experienced surgeon like Dr. John Kang. As a board-certified specialist in facial plastic surgery, Dr. Kang ensures a personalized and safe approach for each patient.

5. Is the PDO Thread Lift painful?
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia to minimize discomfort. Patients often report feeling mild pressure or pulling during the treatment, but pain is minimal.

6. What are the benefits of a PDO Thread Lift compared to traditional facelifts?

• No large incisions or visible scarring
• Minimal downtime
• Immediate results with natural-looking enhancements
• Cost-effective compared to surgical options

7. How soon will I see results?
You will notice an immediate lifting effect after the procedure. Over the next 3-6 months, as collagen production increases, the full results will become apparent.

8. What is the recovery time?
Most patients experience minimal downtime. While some swelling or bruising may occur, it usually subsides within a few days, allowing a quick return to daily activities.

9. Who is the ideal candidate for a PDO Thread Lift?
The best candidates are individuals with mild to moderate skin laxity who seek a non-surgical solution for facial rejuvenation. Dr. Kang specializes in tailoring treatments for diverse facial structures, including those of Asian descent, ensuring natural and balanced results.

10. How should I prepare for the procedure?
Before your PDO Thread Lift, Dr. Kang will provide detailed pre-treatment instructions, including avoiding certain medications and supplements that may increase the risk of bruising.

11. Are there any side effects?
Temporary swelling, bruising, or tenderness are common but resolve quickly. Dr. Kang’s expertise in minimally invasive techniques helps reduce the likelihood of complications.
